Co-Lead Structure Moves Forward
We are excited to announce Jocelyn Li as internally appointed Co-Executive Director (Strategy) and are recruiting a collaborator to complement their skills in strategic partnerships and community facilitation. Jocelyn served as Director of Strategy and Partnerships until appointed to the position, interim, several weeks ago.

The co-lead structure is intended to support increased resilience among leaders, particularly those from equity-deserving groups. It offers an opportunity to vividly demonstrate the power of collaboration and offers redundancy to align with risk management and sustainability goals.

Inspiring Communities (IC) is a recognized leading not-for-profit organization changing systems while focusing on equity-centred collaboration.
The work focuses on community engagement to develop a shared agenda and organize around it; shared approaches to measuring progress; identifying opportunities to align for impact; and, supporting local backbone teams to coordinate and build capacity for the work. At a provincial level, Inspiring Communities contributes to capacity building provincially on developmental evaluation, cross-sector partnerships, and translating community knowledge to government decision-makers and other influencers.
Working in communities by theme and by place. Our places include office locations in Town of Digby, Dartmouth North and Glace Bay Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, where we work with communities in and surrounding Digby County, Halifax Regional Municipality and Cape Breton. The primary activities currently consist of:
- building collaborative community relationships fostering community engagement
- developing skills and promoting social experimentation
- through reflective evaluation practices, integrating learned skills into the work that they do
- sharing approaches with cross-sector partners both in regional and national networks.
Inspiring Communities is proud to introduce this new Co-Executive leadership structure to increase the capacity and reach of the organization, and model a framework for equitable leadership sustainability.
